Marriage & Why it is absent in 2011...
Ok, so one of my female friends came to see me this weekend & brought her "boyfriend" for me to meet him. After she got back home she sent me a text saying "So what do you think?" & honestly, I was surprised she cared. I was surprised that she cared what I thought about him, & surprised that she was actually eager to know my response. So I texted her back "...He seems cool, just take it easy & be careful." One of our other friends said that she felt like he may be somewhat sneaky, or what not & told her to be careful as well. I responded & said, thats with everyone... "you have to be careful with everyone."
Later on in the conversation it also made me realize somethings. I was telling her that she doesn't need to do too much, I told her to just relax, take each day at a time, don't get too deep, & don't do the most. When I told her that, it had me thinking about the females that I know who are completly opposite of this, the females that DO the most & GIVE their everything when the guy they are with could give two sh*ts less. So this brings me to my main point, why is marriage absent in 2011?
I am going to try & make this as short & simple as possible, bare with me...
Females, we have the tendency to love a lot, & when we love, we usually love hard. We are emotional creatures & most of us have really big hearts. The thing about that is when you love hard, you sometimes do things that don't need to be done. We get so caught up in the relationship that we start doing things that we don't even realize until later on. We start cooking every night, trying new things to keep his attention, changing all the things he doesn't like, becoming that "ride or die" just so he knows your'e down for him, etc. Hell, I even found myself going to his apartment, cooking & cleaning at his house, I had to sit back & be like "Woah! WTF are you doing Victoria?!!?" Don't get me wrong, doing all of these things are great, actually perfect! The only problem, is that may be your boyfriend, but he isn't you "Husband". Why are you giving so much? In a nutshell, Im saying...
"If you do EVERYTHING for your boyfriend.....why would marriage even cross his mind? Girl, you giving him it all WITHOUT a ring already!"
Im going to keep it real, if I was a guy, about 27 years old & I had this amazing girl that cooked, cleaned, did this & that for me...I wouldn't even think about getting married to her either. I might love her & love the things she do, but whats the point of going through that marriage process when I got everything already? That is why a lot of guys say "nothing would change, getting married is just a ring & a piece of paper"
So to end this post, Ladies, if you want to continue to do what you want for your man & give him everything, not letting him even think about what would come after marriage, then who am I to judge, keep doing you. But just think about it, if he isn't giving as much as you are, then yall shouldn't be together anyway. While you are home being "wifey" & he is out doing him, he could care less about all that other sh*t. He may come home to you at night, but are you that less of a woman to let him be with the whole city before he come home to you? Think about it...

Wendy Williams seems to jokingly disagree with Tyrese but I understand what he is saying completely. Tyrese made a couple of good points. If you go all out for your man, cook, clean etc, that doesn't mean that he wont cheat. "That spaghetti couldn't keep him at home" That is so true! A female wants to give her all thinking that if I do this & that, if I hold him down he won't want to leave. Unfortunately thats not true. A guy will do what he wants to do & good sex, food & etc won't always keep them home, & if it doesn't keep him home, please Ladies, if you haven't done anything wrong, don't think its your fault your spaghetti didn't keep him.
Tyrese also made some good points on how men & women are viewed two different ways by society. Everyone knows that if a female had sex with 10 different people on campus she is considered a hoe but if a guy does it no one talks about, its expected & accepted. That is just life, its nothing new. Personally, I wouldn't be having sex with 10 different guys on campus, so when females get mad because they feel like guys can "get away with doing whoever whenever" I just want to tell them GET OVER IT! As a female, you shouldn't want to do whoever whenever. I think the general idea that men can have sex with as many women that they want & not be considered a hoe should calm a female down & make her not even want to have sex with 10 different guys because of that label. Too bad every female doesn't think like me though. :-/

How Long is Too Long?
I've been thinking, I know plenty of females who have been "with" their guy for three years & sometimes more. They have been their rock, their "ride or die", they have been ran through the mud & more. These females have even made alterations in their own life, to accommodate him &/or the relationship. I have never been with a guy for more than three consecutive years, simply because I either get tired of them or they end up doing something stupid. BUT trust me when I say that if I was, I am sure I would not be in the predicament that these "ride or die" chicks are in.
Now I'm far from bashing a female that has been with her guy for over three years, but what I am bashing is the situations that that female may be in. First, lets be clear, you have been with him off & on, 3, 4, or even 5 years, since high school maybe, good & bad issues, cheating, fighting etc. & you make accommodations for him & the relationship simply because you....love him?Remember, I said I'm not bashing. Love is all fine & dandy, but the point I am trying to make is, DONT DO SO MUCH FOR SOMEONE THAT IS GIVING YOU SO LITTLE.
I'm sorry, but if I have been with someone for so long, the aspects of our relationships would have changed from when we first met. I would have to see a change in him & in our relationship. I am still young, so I am not going to say after 3 years he should be proposing, no. However, what I am saying is, if you think things are going in a big circle with yall now, what will happen when another 3+ years pass by, when you are actually ready to get married & have kids? If after 3-4 years nothing really has yet to change, why do you think things will in another 3-4 years? If its not working, move the f*ck on!
So now my question is "How Long is Too Long?" if you are reading needing an answer, I can't tell you. I'm not in your relationship, so I don't know what you all have been through or how you feel, but what I can tell you is, if after you leave my blog, sit back & really think about your relationship, no sugar coat involved & think about the good & the bad, think about what you have done, sacrifices you have made, sacrifices he has made, has anything changed from when you first met him? Has he became a better person, mentally? Does he respect the things you ask of him? Is he still doing things that he was doing when he met you? Are yall still having to deal with issues that yall might have dealt with in the past? These questions should help you see where your own mind is at about yall relationship.
